Ciao! Sono Sara, qui per raccontarvi cos’è stato per me Pride Lens to Europe, il mio primo progetto Erasmus+, a cui ho partecipato tramite Romagna+ a metà giugno di quest’anno.  

L’obiettivo di questo training course, svolto ad Arroyomolinos (ridente cittadina vicino Madrid, che prima di allora non avevo mai sentito nominare) era sviluppare metodologie non formali e creative per il lavoro sociale e con giovani appartenenti alla comunità LGBT+, per favorire l’empowerment e la rappresentazione dei giovani queer attraverso lo storytelling e la fotografia.

Il team di partecipanti era composto da 24 persone (comprese le due trainer, Silvia e Clara), provenienti da Italia, Spagna, Portogallo, Ucraina, Macedonia del Nord e Malta: è stato davvero emozionante conoscere ragazz3 provenienti da tutta Europa, incontrarsi per raccontare di sé e per imparare, e stringere legami con persone che altrimenti probabilmente non avrei mai avuto modo di incontrare!

I workshop hanno riguardato attività di storytelling, photovoice, photo-embroidery, digital collage e video-making: l’obiettivo di queste attività era sviluppare competenze pratiche e strumenti innovativi per favorire la rappresentazione, l’inclusione e la visibilità delle identità queer.

Attraverso il workshop su storytelling e rappresentazione, abbiamo riflettuto su quale impatto abbia una certa narrazione e come sia possibile rendere una storia più rappresentativa ed espressiva delle vite queer: non si tratta solo di inserire personaggi appartenenti alla comunità, ma di ripensare le regole stesse del raccontare storie!

Nelle attività di photovoice e photo-embroidery, ognuno ha potuto raccontare la propria storia tramite la fotografia, per parlare di identità, rappresentazione, pride, ma anche per raccontare delle difficoltà quotidiane che affrontiamo come persone queer: è stato emozionante mettersi in gioco e soprattutto lavorare insieme e sostenerci l’un l’altrə nella creazione delle nostre foto, penso davvero che sia stato un bell’esempio di cura e comunità!

Con il digital collage abbiamo cercato di raccontarci l’un l’altro, e con il video-making, invece, abbiamo provato a raccontare storie già conosciute, dando spazio alla narrazione queer!

L’ultimo giorno del progetto abbiamo allestito la nostra personale esibizione artistica, per condividere con la comunità locale di Arroyomolinos il nostro lavoro e creare così uno spazio per raccontare la nostra storia e identità queer!

Le attività svolte nel corso della settimana, ma soprattutto poter condividere storie ed esperienze all’interno di un team internazionale, hanno reso questo progetto per me un’importantissima occasione di condivisione e formazione su cosa vuol dire rappresentazione e visibilità, cosa significa essere una persona appartenente alla comunità LGBT+ in parti diverse d’Europa, e cosa possiamo fare per implementare la rappresentazione e la visibilità delle persone queer, all’interno di progetti, lavoro di comunità, ma anche nella nostra vita quotidiana!

Sono davvero grata di aver potuto partecipare a questo training course, di aver imparato tanto e di aver conosciuto persone incredibili! Al prossimo progetto!

Hello! I am Sara, here to tell you what Pride Lens to Europe, my first Erasmus+ project, was for me, in which I participated via Romagna+ in mid-June this year.
The objective of this training course, carried out in Arroyomolinos (a laughing town near Madrid, which I had never heard of before) was to develop non-formal and creative methodologies for social work and with young people belonging to the LGBT+ community, to encourage the empowerment and representation of queer young people through storytelling and photography.
The team of participants was made up of 24 people (including the two trainers, Silvia and Clara), coming from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ukraine, North Macedonia and Malta: it was really exciting to meet young people from all over Europe, meet to talk about themselves and to learn, and form bonds with people I would probably never have had the chance to meet otherwise!
The workshops covered storytelling, photovoice, photo-embroidery, digital collage and video-making activities: the objective of these activities was to develop practical skills and innovative tools to foster the representation, inclusion and visibility of queer identities.
Through the workshop on storytelling and representation, we reflected on what impact a certain narrative has and how it is possible to make a story more representative and expressive of queer lives: it’s not just about inserting characters belonging to the community, but about rethinking the very rules of telling stories! In photovoice and photo-embroidery activities, everyone was able to tell their story through photography, to talk about identity, representation, pride, but also to talk about the daily difficulties we face as queer people: it was exciting to get involved and above all to work together and support each other in creating our photos, I really think it was a beautiful example of care and community!
With digital collage we tried to tell each other, and with video-making, instead, we tried to tell stories already known, giving space to queer storytelling!
On the last day of the project, we set up our personal artistic exhibition, to share with the local community of Arroyomolinos our work and thus create a space to tell our story and queer identity!
The activities carried out during the week, but above all being able to share stories and experiences within an international team, have made this project for me a very important opportunity to share and train on what representation and visibility means, what it means to be a person belonging to the LGBT+ community in different parts of Europe, and what we can do to implement the representation and visibility of queer people, within projects, community work, but also in our daily lives!
I am truly grateful to have been able to participate in this training course, to have learned a lot and to have met incredible people! Until the next project!
